Arianna Huffington Lecture Part I

(I'm going to do these questions in separate posts, to make it easier to sort out the responses.)

Arianna Huffington spoke at my university this week, and one of the things she advocated was to stop answering pollsters when they call. Here's her reasoning:

- Only 30% of those called respond.

- Those who are likely to respond are also not necessarily representative of the general public.

- Politicians rely way too much on poll data to determine how they act.

Should we stop polling? What kinds of alternatives could we present? Is polling actually harming us by being potentially misleading?
